First window clean vs regular cleaning

Why the first clean may take longer, especially when frames and sills have built-up dirt.

First cleans and regular maintenance cleans serve different purposes. If a property hasn't been cleaned for a while, the first visit can involve more work than a routine return visit.

What makes a first clean different?

Exterior frames and sills can collect grime in corners, around seals and beneath window openings. Glass may also have deposits that aren't obvious from a distance. A first visit allows the cleaner to assess what can be cleaned safely and bring the property to a more manageable standard.

Why might it cost more?

Extra time, heavy build-up, larger glass areas and awkward access can all affect an initial quotation. Scraping paint, removing building residue or tackling neglected rooflights are specialist requirements that should be mentioned, not assumed to be included in an ordinary clean.

What is a maintenance clean?

Once the initial work is complete, a regular visit generally focuses on keeping external windows, frames and sills tidy. You may consider four-, eight- or twelve-weekly cleaning depending on location, weather exposure and preference. Route availability depends on the postcode.

Should you start with a one-off clean?

That's an option if you're moving, preparing to sell, or simply trying a service before making a decision about frequency. A one-off job may be priced differently from a regular round. There is no need to agree to future visits just to ask about the first.

Useful details for the cleaner

Give your postcode, approximate window count and a note about any conservatory, glazed roof or difficult access. You can explore window-cleaning options first and choose whether to enquire afterwards. For scope, see what a window clean includes.
